Free Yahtzee score sheet and Farkle score keeper, and how to make your own
Keep score on a phone passed round the table or a tablet in the middle. Tap the dice you rolled and it shows what every Yahtzee box or Farkle roll is worth, adds up the bonuses, keeps track of whose turn it is and cheers the winner. Print blank sheets too. Nothing is sent anywhere. Then make your own score keeper with a free AI assistant.

Farkle scoring chart
In Farkle, only 1s, 5s and certain combinations score. A single 1 is worth 100 and a single 5 is worth 50. Three of a kind scores 100 times the number (three 4s are 400), except three 1s, which are 300 on most boxed sets and 1,000 in the classic rules. Bigger sets, straights and pairs score more, depending on the rules you play. If a roll has no scoring dice at all, that's a farkle and you lose the points from that turn.
| Dice | Standard | Classic doubling | Simple adding |
|---|---|---|---|
| A single 1 | 100 | 100 | 100 |
| A single 5 | 50 | 50 | 50 |
| Three 1s | 300 | 1,000 | 1,000 |
| Three 2s / 3s / 4s | 200 / 300 / 400 | 200 / 300 / 400 | 200 / 300 / 400 |
| Three 5s / 6s | 500 / 600 | 500 / 600 | 500 / 600 |
| Four of a kind | 1,000 | 2 × three of a kind | 2 × three of a kind |
| Five of a kind | 2,000 | 4 × three of a kind | 3 × three of a kind |
| Six of a kind | 3,000 | 8 × three of a kind | 4 × three of a kind |
| Straight, 1 to 6 | 1,500 | 1,500 | 1,000 |
| Three pairs | 1,500 | 750 | 500 |
| Four of a kind and a pair | 1,500 | Counts as three pairs | Counts as three pairs |
| Two triplets | 2,500 | Score each set of three | Score each set of three |
Examples (standard rules): 1, 1, 5, 2, 3, 4 is worth 250 (two 1s and a 5). 4, 4, 4, 1, 5, 2 is worth 550. 2, 2, 3, 3, 6, 6 is three pairs, 1,500. A combination only counts when it's all in one roll, and you can always choose to set aside fewer dice and roll more. The calculator above tries every way of counting a roll and shows the best one, plus how much each smaller keep is worth. Open the Farkle calculator.
How each box on a Yahtzee score sheet scores
| Box | Scores | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Ones to Sixes | Add up only that number | 4, 4, 4, 2, 6 in Fours = 12 |
| Upper bonus | 35 if Ones to Sixes add up to 63 or more | Three of each number is exactly 63 |
| 3 of a kind | Add up all five dice | 5, 5, 5, 2, 1 = 18 |
| 4 of a kind | Add up all five dice | 3, 3, 3, 3, 6 = 18 |
| Full house | 25 | 2, 2, 6, 6, 6 |
| Small straight | 30 | Four in a row, like 1, 2, 3, 4 |
| Large straight | 40 | Five in a row, like 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 |
| Yahtzee | 50 | All five dice the same |
| Chance | Add up all five dice | Any roll |
| Yahtzee bonus | 100 for each extra Yahtzee | Only if the Yahtzee box has 50 |
Every player fills in one box per turn, so a game is 13 turns each. If a roll doesn't fit anywhere useful, you have to put a 0 in a box. The paper pad has six game columns, and so does the score keeper above: press "Pad: all 6 games" to see them.
Your own score keeper for family games night
You'll describe the score keeper to a free AI assistant, paste what it writes into a file, and open it in your browser. Then add the totals and bonuses, dice buttons, a Farkle calculator, saving and printing, one step at a time.
- A Yahtzee score card for every player, with the upper bonus, Yahtzee bonuses and grand total worked out for you
- Five dice buttons: tap what you rolled and every empty box shows what it would score, with the best one lit up
- A roll button with dice you can keep, for when the real dice have gone under the sofa
- A Farkle tab that works out what any roll is worth, tracks each turn and spots the winner
- Undo, a history of every score, and saving so a closed tab doesn't lose the game
- Printable blank score sheets, plus your own house rules
Good for: families who've lost the score pad (again), grandparents who'd like the adding up done for them, anyone who argues about Farkle scoring, and teachers using dice games for maths practice.
What you need
Build it in six steps
Step 1 gives you a simple version that works, and each step after it adds more. The demo at the top of this page is roughly what you'll have once you've done every step. Yours will look a bit different, because the AI writes its own version each time.
Ask for a simple Yahtzee score card
Copy this prompt into your AI assistant:
Copy this promptI don't know how to code. Please make me a Yahtzee score keeper that runs in a web browser, for my family to use instead of the paper score pad. Requirements: - ONE single HTML file (HTML, CSS and JavaScript together), no external libraries, no internet needed. I will save it and double-click it. - At the top, a list of players with a name box for each, an "Add player" button (up to 8 players) and a small remove button. Start with two players called "Player 1" and "Player 2". - Below, a score card table like the real pad: one row for each box (Ones, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, Sixes, 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind, Full house, Small straight, Large straight, Yahtzee, Chance) and one column for each player, with a short "how to score" note under each box name. - Tap an empty box to choose its score from a small pop-up of buttons, showing only scores that are possible. For example Threes can be 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 or 15, Full house can be 0 or 25, Small straight 0 or 30, Large straight 0 or 40, Yahtzee 0 or 50, and 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind and Chance any total from 5 to 30 (and 0 for the "of a kind" boxes). - A "Grand total" row at the bottom for each player that adds up as I go. - Big, clear, friendly design with a dark background and buttons big enough to tap on a phone. Please give me the complete file in one code block, then tell me in simple steps how to save and open it.
Copy the code, paste it into your text editor, and save it as score-keeper.html. Double-click it, type your family's names and fill in a few boxes.
Add the totals, bonuses and turns
This is where it starts saving you the adding up. The upper bonus and the Yahtzee bonus are the bits people most often get wrong on paper.
Copy this promptThat works, thank you. Please add the proper totals and turns: - Under Sixes, add "Upper total", then "Bonus", which is 35 if the upper total is 63 or more, otherwise 0. Next to the upper total, show how far ahead or behind the player is compared with three of each number (for example "+3" or "-4"), so they know if the bonus is still possible. - Add a "Yahtzee bonus" row: 100 points for each extra Yahtzee, but only if the Yahtzee box already has 50. Tapping it lets me choose how many bonuses. - Add "Lower total", "Upper total with bonus" and "Grand total" rows. - Work out whose turn it is: the first player, in order, who has filled the fewest boxes. Highlight that player's column and show "Sam's turn, turn 4 of 13" at the top. - When everyone has filled all 13 boxes, the game is over: show the winner (or a tie) in a big friendly message. - Like a real pad, allow up to 6 games. A "Next game" button starts a new column of scores, and a "Pad" view shows one player's six games side by side with a pad total. Send me the complete updated file.
Always ask for the complete file. Replace everything in score-keeper.html, save, and refresh the tab (F5 or Cmd+R).Tap the dice and let it do the scoring
Now you don't need to work out the scores at all. Type in the five dice and every empty box shows what it would be worth. This step also adds the official "joker" rules for extra Yahtzees.
Copy this promptPlease add dice entry: - A tray of five dice above the score card, drawn with CSS dots (no pictures), and six buttons showing dice faces 1 to 6. Tapping a face adds that die to the tray. Tapping a die in the tray takes it out. - When the tray has five dice, show in every empty box of the current player's column the score it would get, in a lighter colour. Tapping one of those boxes scores it, clears the tray and moves to the next player. - Also show a list of "Score it in..." buttons under the dice, sorted with a "Best pick" first. Work out the best pick by comparing the score with what each box usually scores (Ones about 2, Twos 5, Threes 9, Fours 12, Fives 16, Sixes 19, 3 of a kind 22, 4 of a kind 13, Full house 23, Small straight 30, Large straight 33, Yahtzee 17, Chance 22), with a small nudge towards the upper bonus. A Yahtzee in an empty Yahtzee box is always the best pick. - Small straight is any four in a row, large straight is five in a row. A full house is three of one number and two of another. Five of a kind is NOT a full house unless the joker rules below apply. - Official joker rules: if a player rolls a Yahtzee and their Yahtzee box is already filled, they get the 100 bonus only if that box has 50. Then they must use the matching upper box (for five 4s, Fours) if it's empty. If that's filled, they can use any empty lower box, and Full house, Small straight and Large straight score their full 25, 30 or 40. If those are all filled too, they must put a 0 in an empty upper box. - A "Roll the dice" button for when we have no dice: roll five random dice with a short tumbling animation, let me tap dice to keep them, and allow three rolls a turn. Send me the complete updated file.
Add a Farkle tab with a "what is my roll worth?" calculator
Farkle scoring is where most arguments start. A calculator that tries every way of counting a roll settles them quickly.
Copy this promptPlease add a second game, Farkle, with two tabs at the top: "Yahtzee" and "Farkle". Both use the same players. In the Farkle tab: - A dice tray for up to six dice, with the same 1 to 6 buttons and a "Roll" button that rolls however many dice the player has left. - Work out the best score for the dice in the tray by trying every way of splitting them into scoring groups and keeping the highest total. Use these scores: a single 1 = 100, a single 5 = 50, three 1s = 300, three 2s = 200, three 3s = 300, three 4s = 400, three 5s = 500, three 6s = 600, four of a kind = 1,000, five of a kind = 2,000, six of a kind = 3,000, a 1-2-3-4-5-6 straight = 1,500, three pairs = 1,500, four of a kind with a pair = 1,500, two triplets = 2,500. Straights, three pairs and two triplets need all six dice in one roll. - Show the best score in big numbers, list the groups that make it up, and grey out the dice that don't score. If nothing scores, show "Farkle!". - Under it, buttons to keep fewer dice, like "Keep 1 die +100, then roll 5", only where keeping more dice is worth more. - A turn panel: whose turn it is, the turn total, how many dice are left, and buttons for "Bank", "Farkle" and "+ Points" (to type in points we counted ourselves). If a player scores with all six dice, show "Hot dice!" and let them roll all six again. - Bank adds the turn total to their score. Farkle loses the turn total. Both pass the turn to the next player. - First to 10,000 triggers a final round: everyone else gets one more turn, then the highest score wins. - A "score sheet" table under it showing every player's banked turns and running totals. Send me the complete updated file.
Save the game, add undo, and print score sheets
Someone always taps the wrong box, and someone always closes the tab. This step fixes both, and gives you paper sheets for when you'd rather use a pencil.
Copy this promptPlease add saving, undo and printing: - Save the players and both games in localStorage after every change, so refreshing or closing the page doesn't lose anything. Add a note saying "Your game saves in this browser only. Nothing is sent anywhere." and a "Clear saved game" button that asks first. - An "Undo" button that takes back the last change, however many times I press it. Keep a copy of the whole game before each change to make this simple. - A "History" list of every score, bank and farkle, with the time. - A "Print" panel with a choice of "A4" and "US Letter" paper, and buttons to print: 1. A blank Yahtzee score card that fills one page, with six game columns, a "how to score" column, and all the totals and bonus rows. A tick box for "Two cards on each page" with a dotted cut line. 2. A blank Farkle score sheet with six player columns (Points and Total for each), about 24 turn rows, and the scoring chart at the bottom. 3. The game being played right now, with everyone's scores filled in. - When printing, show only the sheet, with no buttons, using a print stylesheet and @page with the right paper size and 10 mm margins. Every sheet must fit on exactly one page. Send me the complete updated file.
Add your house rules, and make it fun
Nearly every family plays Farkle a little differently. Presets cover the common versions, and the scoring chart on screen always matches the rules you pick.
Copy this promptPlease finish it off: - Farkle rule presets, as buttons: "Standard" (the scores I gave you before), "Classic doubling" (three 1s = 1,000, and each extra matching die doubles three of a kind, so four 4s = 800 and five 4s = 1,600; straight 1,500; three pairs 750; no four-plus-pair or two-triplet scores) and "Simple adding" (three 1s = 1,000, each extra matching die adds the three-of-a-kind score again; straight 1,000; three pairs 500). Let me change any of the numbers myself, with 0 meaning "not used". - Show a scoring chart next to the calculator that always matches the chosen rules. - Farkle settings: the winning score (5,000, 10,000 or 15,000), points needed in one turn to get on the board (none, 350, 500 or 1,000), losing 1,000 for three farkles in a row (on or off), and the final round (on or off). - Coloured animal avatars for players, which I can change, and up and down arrows to change the turn order. - A big celebration with confetti and dice flying in when someone rolls a Yahtzee, and another when someone wins. - Sounds made with the Web Audio API for dice, scores and cheers, OFF by default, with a tick box to turn them on. - A "Keep the screen awake" tick box using the Wake Lock API, hidden or greyed out if the browser can't do it. - On a phone, stack everything in one column, make every button at least 44 pixels tall, and let the score card scroll sideways inside its box, never the whole page. Send me the complete updated file.
Quick fixes
The Farkle calculator gives the wrong score
Usually it's counting the groups in the wrong order, for example taking four 1s as four single 1s instead of four of a kind. Tell the AI: "Please find the best Farkle score by trying every possible way of splitting the dice into scoring groups, recursively, and keeping the highest total. Test it with 1, 1, 1, 1, 5, 5 (should be 1,500 with standard rules) and 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3 (should be 2,500)." Ask for the complete file.
Five of a kind scores 0 as a full house
That's correct for your first Yahtzee: officially, five of a kind only counts as a full house or a straight under the joker rules, once the Yahtzee box is filled. If you'd rather it always counts, that's a common house rule. Tell the AI: "Please let a Yahtzee always count as a full house."
The bonus doesn't appear, or the totals look wrong
Tell the AI: "The upper bonus should be 35 when Ones to Sixes add up to 63 or more. The grand total is the upper total plus bonus, plus the lower total, plus 100 for each Yahtzee bonus. Please check the totals add up and show each one on its own row."
The game was gone when I opened it again
Saving only works in the same browser on the same device, and private or incognito windows forget everything when they close. Moving the file to a different folder can also start a fresh save. If it never saves, tell the AI: "Please save the whole game to localStorage after every change and load it when the page opens."
The printout spills onto a second page or shows the buttons
In the print window, set the scale to 100% (or "Default"), not "Fit to page", and pick the same paper size as the score keeper. If it's still wrong, tell the AI: "When printing, hide everything except the score sheet, and make the sheet a few millimetres shorter than the page so it always fits on one page."
The phone screen keeps going to sleep
Tick "Keep the screen awake". It works in most up-to-date browsers, but only on a secure page, so it may not work on a file you double-click. Put the page online for free (see free hosting), or change the phone's auto-lock setting for the evening.
It opens as text
Re-save as plain text with exactly .html at the end, not .txt.
Questions people ask
How does Farkle scoring work?
A single 1 scores 100 and a single 5 scores 50. Three of a kind scores 100 times the number, so three 4s are 400, and three 1s are 300 on most boxed sets (1,000 in the classic rules). With standard rules, four of a kind is 1,000, five of a kind 2,000, six of a kind 3,000, a 1 to 6 straight 1,500, three pairs 1,500, four of a kind with a pair 1,500 and two triplets 2,500. A roll with nothing that scores is a farkle, and you lose that turn's points.
What do you need to win Farkle?
Usually 10,000 points. When someone banks 10,000 or more, everyone else gets one last turn to beat them, and the highest score wins. Some families also need 500 points in one turn before they're "on the board". You can change both in the score keeper.
How does the Yahtzee bonus work?
There are two. The upper bonus is 35 points if your Ones to Sixes add up to 63 or more, which is what you get with three of each number. The Yahtzee bonus is 100 points for every extra Yahtzee you roll, but only if you've already scored 50 in the Yahtzee box.
What are the Yahtzee joker rules?
If you roll a Yahtzee when your Yahtzee box is already filled, you must score it in the matching upper box (five 3s go in Threes) if that's empty. If it isn't, you can use any empty lower box, and full house, small straight and large straight score their full 25, 30 or 40. If all of those are filled, you put a 0 in an empty upper box.
Can I print a Yahtzee score sheet?
Yes. Press Print in the score keeper and choose a blank Yahtzee score card, one big card or two to a page, on A4 or US Letter. You can also print a blank Farkle score sheet with the scoring chart on it, or the game you're playing now.
Is it free, and is my game private?
Yes. There's no sign-up and no adverts in the score keeper. The game is saved in your own browser so you can carry on later, and nothing is sent anywhere. Clear it any time in Settings.
Twist it into something else
Players, turns, undo, saving and printing work for almost any game with a score pad. Change the first prompt to make:
A Phase 10 tracker
tick off each player's phase, add up the points left in their hand, and show who's furthest ahead
A Skyjo or Five Crowns scorer
round-by-round totals where the lowest score wins, with the round's wild card shown big for Five Crowns
A darts 501 counter
tap each dart, it takes the score off, warns about going bust and suggests a checkout
Your family's own dice game
describe the rules you play at Grandma's, and get a calculator and score sheet that match them exactly
A dice maths game for class
roll five dice, the children work out the best Yahtzee box, and the page checks their answer
A games night league table
keep every game's winner for the year, with a trophy cabinet and a "most Yahtzees" award
Your rules, your table, no adding up
Paper pads run out, printable sheets still leave you doing the sums, and most score apps are full of adverts or only know one set of rules. Yours knows the official Yahtzee rules and exactly how your family plays Farkle, works on any phone or tablet, keeps the game if someone closes the tab, and never sends your scores anywhere. It's also a great first "real" app: lists, buttons, tables, saving and printing, all in one small file you understand.
